Nafplio

Nafplio was the first capital of Greece after independence (1833 to 1834) and has been a major port since the Bronze Age.
The town has three fortresses, the main one Palamidi (on top of the hill on the left) the minor one Akronafplia (on the small hill in the centre) and...
...the Bourtzi the tiny one on an island.
There does not appear to be a campsite within walking distance of the town centre however many motorhomes park overnight in the town's massive car park.
It is probably best to park at the less crowded marina end (37.572082 22.802447) of the car park as some larger vehicles at the town end were so surrounded by cars that it would be very difficult for them to leave until the surrounding cars left.
The view from Palamidi is (probably) worth the 900 steps you have to climb to get there.
If you would rather hire a yacht than drive a motorhome, the big one in the harbour (the 'O'Ptasia) is suitable for 12 guests, has 11 cabins and 26 crew.
