Florence

Before taking our pre-booked ferry from Ancona (Italy) to Patras (Greece) we decided to spend a couple of days in Florence. As with most large towns the only sensible place to park a big truck for a few days with easy access to the centre of town is a "proper" camp site. And they don't come any more proper than "Firenze - Camping in Town" (43.764892 11.316025). Here we have a bar, fine cafe, supermarket, swimming pool, and a shuttle bus to town. Expensive but recommended.
On our first day in Florence we followed a walking tour and saw the outside of innumerable impressive buildings. Being a Monday all official museums and
other attractions were of course closed.
We were warned that if we wanted to see the world's finest art gallery (and we would be mad not to) we should book our tickets to the Uffizi on-line at least the night before. This we did and got the only available entry slot between 12:30 and 12:45!
Rather than just wander round the gallery we decided to concentrate on just few of the rooms, so we confined ourselves to Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, Lippi, Botticelli, Caravaggio, Rembrandt, Rubins and Anthony Gormley.
