LPG in Europe.

The following information relates to the supply of bulk LPG for vehicle gas tanks and not to the supply of gas in bottles. I believe it is accurate but cannot guarantee that every detail is. If you have any corrections or additions please e-mail me on lesbrook@blueyonder.co.uk.

BELGIUM

LPG widely available.

CZECH REPUBLIC

DENMARK

"Only a few cars in Denmark use LPG. Furthermore it is not legal to mount LPG tanks on motorcaravans. It is, therefore, only possible to buy LPG at very few Statoil and Q8 filling stations". Price per litre LPG: DKK 7,40.

ESTONIA

"Gas" or "Gaas" available at many service stations and specialist outlets. About 6.75EEK per litre.

FINLAND

LPG is not available in Finland.

FRANCE

LPG widely available. About 3.4FF per litre. French/Italian nozzle/adapter used.

GREECE

From personal experience, LPG is very difficult to obtain, except in the largest cities.

HUNGARY

"The nozzles of the Italian system are used here. The present number of LPG filling stations is over 200*. The central gas stations' company, GLOBIMPEX Kereskedelmi és Szolgáltató Kft also sell a map and a complete list. Their address is: Globimpex, H-1136 Budapest, Tátra u. 28. V. 3. The average price of LPG is between 140-150 HUF/litre."

ITALY

LPG widely available. French/Italian nozzle/adapter used. About 1100 lire per litre.

LATVIA

LPG available at some service stations and specialist outlets. 0.215 lats per litre.

LITHUANIA

LPG="DUJOZ"

Widely available from service stations and specialist outlets. Look for sign of half-full, leaning bottle. About 1.30lts per litre.

NETHERLANDS

LPG widely available.

NORWAY

There are about 20 outlets in all major population centres as far north as Tromso. A list of these is available from NAF (automobile club). The same list is re-printed in "Norway: The Official Travel Guide" (free from Norwegian Tourist Offices.

POLAND

LPG widely available - from 800 service stations and other outlets. Price generally about 1.30 PLN per litre but can be as low as 1.10 (especially NE Poland).

SLOVAKIA

The UK Caravan Club says that "By law, LPG cannot be used for road vehicles". LPG is not available at service stations but can be obtained from a few specialist outlets, e.g. N part of city of Zilina, Lieskovec (N of Zilina), W of Poprad (on main road), Bardejov (just N of city centre).

SLOVENIA

SPAIN

There are only a handful of LPG stations in Spain - and they only serve public service vehicles eg taxis.

SWITZERLAND

"There are 8 outlets selling LPG" (UK Caravan Club). Try cpg@tcs.ch for list.

SWEDEN

UK

LPG (Autogas) is now widely available in the UK at fuel stations (though there are far fewer LPG stations than in France or Italy for example). The gas supplied is often a mixture of butane and propane and the mixture varies with the time of year. Price about 39p per litre.
